Sudbury Stones Rugby Football Club

2011-2012 Season is upon us!

The Sudbury Stones Rugby football club is now recruiting men and women (17 years of age and older) of all experience levels.

You may have heard that Rugby is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen. The game can be safe and fun when you take the time to learn how to play. We have players as young as 17 and as old as 45 playing with us. A number of our players have taken Rugby specialized coaching and refereeing courses in order to facilitate the growth of the team. We are part of the Ontario Rugby Union and play several exhibition games a year. Sudbury also hosts the longest running Rugby 7's tour every year in October. It is our thanks to Rugby.

Practice times

We are in the outdoor season. We currently run fitness drills and plays at Northeastern Elementary School in Garson, Ontario every Tuesday and Thursday. Practise times are as follows:
Tue ...........6:30 pm (18:30)
Thu ...........6:30 pm (18:30)

Registration form and costs

Every player in Ontario needs to be registered and insured with Rugby Ontario. To play with the Sudbury Stones you need to pony up club dues as well. Club dues help pay for the fields, jerseys and other miscellaneous expenses. The cost changes year to year but is currently set at $250 for registration (ORU and RC insurance) and club dues. Visiting players have a different fee. Please fill out and print the registration form as best you can and have cash or a cheque payable to The Sudbury Stones RFC at practice. If you're a visiting player, or just want to come out for fitness practice, We will tell you what your cost is based on your situation.

Basic Rugby Safety

For a safer Rugby experience we recommend you always wear a mouth guard during practise. Mouth guards are a requirement for any ORU sponsored game.

Fat Man 5

Our annual start to outdoor practice for the season is a grueling, treacherous, mountainous and impossibly long 5 mile run. This year's winner is sadly unknown. We don't have his registration money and may instead have to put someone else's name on the trophy.
